Thai food has become famous the world over for its piquant curries and spicy delicacies, but sweets and non-fiery snacks and dishes are also widely found. In addition to the perennial favourites such as kaeng khieow wan (green curry), penang (a red hot southern dish), tom kha (mild coconut-based soup) and gai phed ma muang (a non-spicy dish of fried chicken with mushrooms, dried chilli and cashew nuts), there are some Northern dishes worth trying.
