Due to cultural and ethnic diversity, there are always many events and festivals to experience and celebrate throughout the year in Sri Lanka. The festivals are usually colourful, loud and celebrated with ceremony and pomp. Many of the dates of the festivals change from year to year as they are based on the lunar or solar phases.
