Prickly Pear Festival is a celebration of traditional food and drink, held on the Eastern Cape every year in the latter part of February. You’ll be treated to foods and beverages such as homemade jams, pancakes, potjiekos and pudding – and ginger beer as well. Pink Loerie Mardi Gras is a gay festival held each year in May in the lovely coastal town of Knysna. The party continues for four days, non-stop, and draws quite a large crowd from around South Africa.
