Public holidays have undergone some significant changes since the end of apartheid in the 1990s. There’s a much greater feeling of inclusion in the celebrations, and these holidays, as well as the other festivals and events that are held in South Africa, provide the visitor with an excellent introduction to the various cultural traditions of this country – and how it throws a party.
