There are limited transportation links to Medina, and many pilgrims arrive on organised buses and planes from Jeddah and Riyadh. The small airport is located close to the city and has several daily flights to Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam and Cairo. The flight time from Jeddah is approximately 40 minutes. Taxis are available for the connection to the city centre; however, it is normal for locals to offer pilgrims a ride for a small fee.
