Vientiane does not offer the visitor endless modern attractions, nor does it provide guided tours or forays into otherwise inaccessible areas. What you get to see as a visitor to the city are the same cultural centres that are available free of charge to Lao citizens. Some may find this a little boring but others with interests in Buddhism and local history will find the temples and traditional buildings, well worth a visit.
