Captain Cook's Cottage was transported from Yorkshire to Fitzroy Gardens in 1934. Since then, it has become a favourite with both tourists and locals. Above one of the doorways of the quaint cottage is inscribed ‘JGC 1755’ which are the initials of James and Grace Cook, the parents of James Cook the founder of Australia. The cottage also displays some items that were associated with Captain James Cook.
